The story that I've read it in a book which really made me to think about being diplomatic with people.
I'm not a good diplomat. I sulk with people and not good in relationship. But the story infused a change in my thinking.
I've a habit of reading Tamil weekly magazines. My mother is the reason for that habit. She used to tell that magazines contain many vital information and improve reading habits. So whenever I go home I read those magazines.
The story is about "Learn from mistakes".
A girl had lost her entire family except her brother during a war. The children were left homeless and wandering on the streets. The government had arranged for a train to the people to go to relief homes.
There were thousands of people waiting for the train to come. In the freezing station the people waited for 3 days. But before they were frozen to death, the train had arrived. The frantic people were trying to board the train to have a seat for them. The girl was managed to get into the train, but her brother was struggling to get in. However after long fight he got into the train but he lost his footwear.
The brother told her sister about that. IN frustration she told "We've already lost everything and now you've lost your foot wear in this winter. You are going to suffer again". The boy got disappointed after scolded by her sister. When the girl alighted at the station, she couldn't find her brother.
After so many years, she couldn't find her brother. When she tried to remember about her brother, all she was able to do was that altercation.
Then she decided not to scold anyone and speak in a very diplomatic manner. She learned from her past mistakes but at the cost of her brother.
Moral:
We don't know whether we will meet the same person again in our life or not. Serendipity won't happen in our life often.

Rename a column name in oracle
The following command can be used to rename a column name.
Lets say the EMPLOYEE table has the following structure
E_name varchar2(100)
E_no number
I need to change the E_no as Employee_no then
ALTER TABLE EMPLOYEE RENAME COLUMN E_no as Employee_no
I think there's no way to rename multiple columns in a single statement

Granting Debugging priviliges in oracle
In PL/SQL developer there is an option for testing the stored programs(Procedures/Functions/Packages).
In test mode the stored programs can be debugged step by step. To do that the user should have Debugging priviliges.
The command for granting debugging priviliges is
GRANT DEBUG ANY PROCEDURE , DEBUG CONNECT SESSION TO USER_NAME

URL shortener bit.ly
When we want to tweet some webpage the size shouldn’t be a matter, but unfortunately twitter supports 140 characters. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t tweet URL more than 140 characters.
We can shorten the URL and then it can be tweeted. A site which I came across last time when I had such problems in tweeting a url more than 140 characters.

Paste the URL in the text box and press shorten. A shorten version of URL will be created and displayed. Use that URL to tweet it to your friends

Unlock an user account in oracle
In my development database there are many users and one of the user account got locked. I thought of contacting DBA to unlock the account. Usually we don't have the priviliges.
But to check my luck I've logged into Database as another user and executed the following command
ALTER USER USER_NAME ACCOUNT UNLOCK
As the priviliges were there the account got unlocked.

Naan Kaakinaada by Suchitra
Suchitra,a singer with amazing talent. In her early days as Radio Jockey, she had driven the Chennai city crazy. Recently the songs sung by her in kandasamy and Sindhanai Sei are setting the music world ablaze.
I’m a great fan of her and I always admire her confidence. She groomed her voice a lot and it transformed into some magical form which put me into a trance.
‘Nan Kaakinaada’ song from Sindhanai Sei again proved her talent that she’s the best singer of 2009 and numero uno.Her voice added the feel that the song requires. The song which was not in limelight initially is a beautiful beat by music director Thaman.
Listen to this song and you will agree with me that she's the most fascinating singer.
She's a great writter too. She wrote a book "The runaway peppercorn".
Check out her interview in Hindu Paper.
