"Something comes for free and something for a fee". We always prefer things which comes for free. Google SMS channel is one such thing where you can subscribe to different channel owners(google,rss feeds which comes for free...) according to your interests.
If you have a gmail account then you can subscribe to this service and you will start receiving sms in your mobile.
